Matthew Gieger has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Matthew is currently working as a Software Engineer at Frame.io since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at BlockFi from January 2021 to April 2022, where they focused on backend software development using Elixir and Phoenix. Matthew was a member of the ACH payments team and utilized technologies such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Postgres.
Before joining BlockFi, Matthew worked at New Relic, Inc. as a Software Engineer from September 2019 to January 2021. Their responsibilities included full-stack development with a focus on backend technologies. Matthew created GraphQL APIs in Elixir using Absinthe and REST APIs with Ruby on Rails. Matthew's early work experience includes being a Research Assistant at the Portland VA Medical Center from October 2015 to July 2017, where they created data analysis programs for ongoing research on sleep and its correlations to traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. Matthew also served in the United States Marine Corps, where they held two positions. From February 2014 to September 2014, they worked as a Training Non-Commissioned Officer, coordinating and organizing training for a company of 150 Marines. From January 2010 to February 2014, they served as a Cryptologic Linguist, leading a team in signals intelligence processing and mentoring them for military operations.
Matthew Gieger attended Portland State University from 2015 to 2019, where they studied Computer Science. Prior to that, they were enrolled at City, University of London in 2014 and 2015, focusing on Creative Writing.
