Markos Xenakis, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen since July 2023, focusing on computational and biophysical modeling of voltage-gated sodium channels related to pain diseases. Previously, Markos served as a Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist at VTT, specializing in system dynamics modeling, biosafety, and Covid-19 transmission dynamics. In 2021, Markos was the Chief Scientific Advisor for the Dementia XR project at Fabric Behavior Design, aimed at enhancing dementia treatments. As a PhD Researcher at Maastricht University from 2014 to 2021, Markos contributed to the EU-funded PROPANE initiative, developing advanced computational modeling pipelines for voltage-gated sodium channels. Additional experience includes a scientific visit at Yale School of Medicine for PROPANE research and research study assistant roles at Forschungszentrum Jülich and Democritus University of Thrace, focusing on neuromodulation protocols and computational methods for time series analysis. Markos holds a Master of Science in Simulation Sciences from RWTH Aachen University and a Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace.
