Steve Chen

Steve Chen, CFA, serves as a member of the Private Enterprise Accounting Standards Advisory Committee at the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) since January 2019. As the VP and Head of First West Capital from June 2019 to October 2024, Steve Chen leads all aspects of the business, including origination, deal execution, and portfolio management, while overseeing growth and profitability, having successfully funded over $250 million to more than 100 businesses in Canada and the US. Additionally, Steve Chen held the position of Managing Director at the Vancouver Chapter of the Risk Management Association from January 2017 to June 2022 and served as a board member during that time. Steve Chen holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Simon Fraser University.
