Dan Gerena

Dan Gerena has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Starting in 1997, they began their career as a Financial Analyst at M&T Bank Corporation, where they performed financial analyses and developed automated financial models. In 1999, they joined Kaleida Health as the Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics, responsible for developing and implementing BI solutions aligned with the corporate strategy. In 2008, they served as an Instructor for Business Intelligence at The University at Buffalo Center for Industrial Effectiveness.

In 2012, Gerena became the Director of Business Analytics at Exelis, where they implemented a comprehensive data warehousing strategy and established Tableau Server as the primary reporting mechanism. Dan also discovered opportunities for optimization through analytics and statistical modeling. Following that, they worked as the VP of Customer Analytics at M&T Bank, providing strategic direction and management of a customer feedback data solutions platform.

In 2014, Gerena started their own company, Analytics Unleashed, LLC, serving clients such as the US Department of Education, Freed Maxick, and Hackensack University Medical Center. Dan helped organizations leverage transactional data effectively to improve outcomes.

Most recently, Gerena served as a Principal at Freed Maxick CPAs, P.C. from 2016 onwards. Here, they developed a new "Business Intelligence as a Service" Practice, mentored staff, and led business development efforts to expand the practice's sales growth and geographical coverage outside of the firm's traditional footprint.

Dan Gerena earned an MBA degree in Finance from the University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York from 1997 to 1999. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University at Buffalo from 1991 to 1995. Dan also holds additional certifications, including OBIEE Certifications in Dashboards & Answers and Metadata Repository from CapGemini (formerly BICG - Business Intelligence Consulting Group), and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from the University at Buffalo - School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
