Freedom In The World Annual Report Analyst at Freedom House

Jonathan Hulland is an experienced analyst and program officer with a strong focus on human rights, democracy promotion, and grant-making in Southeast Asia. Currently serving as the Freedom in the World Annual Report Analyst at Freedom House since May 2017, Jonathan has contributed to the Thailand chapters of the Freedom in the World report from 2017 to 2024. Prior experience includes a notable role as Senior Program Officer at American Jewish World Service, where Jonathan managed multiple grantmaking portfolios supporting civil and political rights across Southeast Asia, specifically in Burma, Cambodia, and Thailand. Jonathan's career also encompasses consultancy roles with the Open Society Foundations and significant project management experience in the Democracy Promotion Project. Jonathan holds a Master's in International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from Macalester College.
