Steven Estrella

Steven Estrella, Ph.D. has accumulated a diverse range of work experiences over the years. Steven started their career as an Intern Electrical Engineer at InTouch Technologies, where they worked on self-balancing drive-trains for robotic platforms and computer hardware/software design for mobile robotics. Steven then moved on to roles at Freedom Photonics, LLC, starting as an R&D Intern Engineer and eventually progressing to roles such as Design Engineer, Senior Photonics Design Engineer, and Senior Photonic Systems Engineer. In their various roles at Freedom Photonics, LLC, they were involved in the development of high-speed Silicon Photonic based optical interconnects, design and testing of optoelectronic devices, grant/proposal writing, and technical writing. Steven also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Santa Barbara and currently owns and manages Estrella Emporium LLC, a family-owned board game and puzzle store.

Steven Estrella, Ph.D. completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara from 2006 to 2010. Steven then went on to earn their Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara from 2016 to 2018. Finally, they obtained their Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara from 2018 to 2022. Prior to their university studies, they attended Santa Barbara City College from 2004 to 2006.
