Jesus Gil

VP, Operations at FreightCar America

Jesus Gil is an expert in LEAN manufacturing, advanced manufacturing and railcar manufacturing. He brings more than 28 years of experience in the freight and tank car manufacturing industry, including managing two greenfield railcar plant start-ups. Jesus directed every aspect of FreightCar America’s Castaños plant startup and continues to oversee operations at the state-of-the-art facility, where the company produces an ever-growing range of leading railcar products and parts.

As Vice President at FreightCar America, Jesus has strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing manufacturing strategy and operational goals, which include exceeding customer expectations for product quality, cost, delivery and efficiency. He drives operational excellence in every part of the company’s railcar production.

Prior to joining FreightCar America, Jesus held multiple positions at Grupo Industrial Monclova (GIMSA), including Director of the Industrial Division, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors. Earlier in his career, he worked for Trinity Industries de Mexico, a metal fabrications company, as Plant Manager at the Monclova plant and General Manager of the Monclova-Sabinas plant. Both facilities were greenfield startups that Jesus oversaw.

Jesus holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Washington University, Saint Louis, and a BS in Electronic Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey. In 2018, he completed a one-year Advanced Executive Management Program at the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE) in Monterrey, Mexico.
