Jamie Farnell

Jamie Farnell has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and business intelligence. They started their career as a QA Analyst at Bell Canada in 2007 and then moved on to work as an Academic Program Manager at SAS Canada from 2009 to 2012. Following that, they worked as a SAS Programmer Analyst at Scotiabank from 2012 to 2014.

In 2015, Jamie joined Bell as a SAS Business Intelligence Programmer and later transitioned into the role of Manager and then Sr. Manager in Business Intelligence, ETL Development, and Production Support. They stayed with Bell until 2018.

From 2018 to 2021, Jamie worked at Torstar Corporation as the Director of Data Engineering and Visualization. Currently, they are employed at FreshBooks, where they started as the Director of Data Engineering in 2021 and have recently been promoted to the position of Senior Director of Data Engineering and Data Platforms.

Jamie Farnell graduated from Queen's University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mathematics and Engineering. The field of study included mathematics, computer engineering, and electrical engineering.
