Paul Weafer

Paul Weafer, PhD, is an accomplished professional in biomedical engineering with extensive experience in product development, project management, and research. Currently serving as Director of Product Development at Freudenberg Medical since December 2023, Paul previously held similar roles at VistaMed from September 2013 to December 2023, progressing from Project Engineer to R&D Manager. Paul’s academic background includes a Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Galway, where research focused on instrumentation development and cell mechanics, along with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Paul has a proven track record in communication and teaching, with a history of published research and presentations at international conferences, alongside successful project funding acquisition from Science Foundation Ireland. Prior experience also includes a research fellowship at University College Dublin and an internship at Creganna Tactx Medical, where Paul gained hands-on experience in production and process optimization.
