Makeda King-Smith

Makeda King-Smith, LMSW, is an experienced upper school counselor currently at the Friends School of Baltimore since August 2022, and previously held the same position at Roland Park Country School from August 2019 to July 2022. With a strong background in immigration and international student advisement, Makeda has served as an independent trainer at International Education Training Services and held leadership roles at The Cooper Union and Mercy College, overseeing compliance and support for F-1 international students. Makeda’s extensive internship experience includes providing psychotherapy at Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services and engaging individuals with developmental disabilities at AHRC New York City. Makeda holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Africana Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
