Aleksandar Simic

Alex Simic has extensive work experience in the field of technology and IT management. Aleksandar (Alex) currently serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) since February 2019, where they are responsible for overseeing IT operations and implementing strategic IT transformation initiatives. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior IT Consultant, specializing in IT transformation, at FSRA from May 2018 to January 2019.

In 2017, Alex worked as a freelance IT Leader, Consultant, Mentor, Strategist, Contract negotiator, and Vendor Manager. During this period, they provided their expertise to various organizations on a contract basis.

From October 2017 onwards, they took up a role as an Instructor for the Italian Wine Scholar Program at IWEG, which is affiliated with the Wine Scholar Guild.

Alex's previous experience includes working as the Managing Director of Technology Infrastructure Services at CPP Investment Board from June 2015 to May 2017. Aleksandar (Alex) played a key role in modernizing and renegotiating outsourcing contracts, resulting in significant cost reductions and operational efficiency gains.

Before that, they served as the Vice President and Head of Information Technology at Credit Suisse from November 2012 to June 2015. During their tenure, they developed a platform for the launch of Credit Suisse Private Bank Canada and delivered IT solutions for various business initiatives.

Alex's earlier experience includes working as the Head of Infrastructure at Alpha Group from July 2007 to November 2012. Aleksandar (Alex) was instrumental in launching a new stock exchange and achieving significant market share growth. Aleksandar (Alex) also delivered high-performance infrastructure to support the company's exponential growth.

From 1997 to 2007, Alex worked at TD Bank Financial Group in different roles, including Associate Vice President of Engineering and Associate Vice President of Enterprise Technology Solutions. Aleksandar (Alex) played a crucial role in driving cost reductions, executing successful outsourcing negotiations, and implementing data center consolidation programs.

Alex's career started with a role as a Senior UNIX Administrator at Bell Mobility from 1995 to 1997 and as a Technical Analyst at Shoppers Drug Mart from 1993 to 1995.

Aleksandar (Alex) Simic completed their Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical Military Faculty from 1984 to 1989. Aleksandar (Alex) also obtained the DipWSET certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust from 2017 to 2019. In addition, they have pursued specialized wine education, including the Champagne Master Level, Spanish Wine Scholar, Italian Wine Scholar, and French Wine Scholar programs through the Wine Scholar Guild.
