Karel de Bondt

Karel De Bondt currently serves as Deputy Director at FSMA, leading the Economic Affairs Department, where responsibilities include data analytics, risk management, digital finance, and economic research & forecasting. Karel acts as Chair of the Suptech Working Group at IAIS and is a member of the Digital Finance Steering Committee at EIOPA. Previous roles include Deputy Head of Cabinet for the Deputy Prime Minister, Senior Economist in Policy and International Relations, and various advisory positions concerning financial institutions and state companies. Karel has served on boards, including The National Lottery and Citadel Finance, and holds multiple executive education credentials from prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Columbia, along with advanced degrees in economics and finance from the University of Cambridge and Ghent University.
