Phil Strother

Head Of Portfolio Management at Fulcrum Asset Management

From 1995 to 1998, Phil Strother worked as a Ph.D. student at Imperial College London. From 1998 to 2000, they were a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. Phil then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Queen Mary, University of London from 2000 to 2001. From 2001 to 2006, they were a quantitative analyst at BNP Paribas. Phil then joined J.P. Morgan as an interest rate strategist from 2006 to 2009. From 2009 to 2013, they worked as an analyst at Comac Capital LLP. Phil then joined Man AHL as a quantitative portfolio manager from 2013 to 2015. Phil served out a non-compete clause from AHL at Non Compete from July 2015 to October 2015. Currently, they are working at Fulcrum Asset Management, where they have held various roles including quantitative researcher from 2015 to 2018, head of systematic research from 2018 to 2021, head of portfolio engineering from 2021 to 2023, and currently as the head of the portfolio management group from 2023 onwards.

Phil Strother has a comprehensive education history. Phil obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics from Imperial College London between 1991 and 1995. During their undergraduate studies, they pursued an additional academic opportunity at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 1993 to 1994, focusing on Physics. Following their undergraduate degree, Phil pursued a higher level of education and obtained a Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College London from 1995 to 1998. Building on their expertise in Physics, they further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Finance from the London Business School from 2003 to 2005. Phil's education trajectory reflects their strong foundation in Physics and their later exploration of the field of Finance.
