Janelle Garcia, PhD, MCHES has extensive work experience in various roles related to community health promotion and education. Janelle is currently working as the Vice President of Community Impact at Fulfill. Prior to this, they held positions at the University of Florida, where they were an Adjunct Professor and later served as the Associate Director of GatorWell Health Promotion Services. Janelle also worked at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital as a Healthy Start Principal Investigator and later as a Clinical Integration Manager, where they focused on community-driven research and school-based health initiatives. Janelle has also worked as a Visiting Instructor at the University of South Florida, an Adjunct Professor at The University of Tampa and Santa Fe College, a Distance Education Adjunct Instructor at East Carolina University, and as a Teaching/Research Assistant at the University of Florida. Janelle has experience in program development and evaluation, grant writing, health assessments, and teaching. Additionally, they have worked as an Exercise Specialist at Shands Healthcare, where they designed and implemented therapy and conditioning programs for patients.
Janelle Garcia, PhD, MCHES has an extensive educational background in the field of health and human performance. Janelle obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Health and Human Performance with a specialization in Health Behavior from the University of Florida, where they studied from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, they pursued their Master of Science (MS) in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a focus on Human Performance at the University of Florida from 2007 to 2008. Janelle started their educational journey at the University of South Florida, where they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Sciences, General from 2003 to 2005.
In addition to their academic degrees, Janelle has also obtained several certifications to enhance their expertise. Janelle holds a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education, which they obtained in May 2021. Furthermore, they are a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) certified by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc, a certification they achieved in April 2021.
