Roberta Cooper, Esq. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Roberta began their career as a Legal Intern at the State of Delaware Office of Public Defender in 1996. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Hall and Thompson. In 2001, they started their own law practice, the Law Office of Roberta Bonnette Cooper, where they served as a Sole Practitioner. In this role, they handled various cases including criminal trials, civil litigation, child welfare law, and labor disputes. Roberta also held the position of Public Defender for the City, managing a heavy caseload and supervising Assistant Public Defenders.
In 2005, Roberta joined the City of Atlanta Municipal Court as an Assistant Public Defender. Roberta later transitioned to the Fulton County Government, where they held multiple roles. From 2006 to 2008, they served as a Senior Child Advocate Attorney, specializing in high-profile and complex cases involving abused and neglected children. Roberta also directed media inquiries related to these cases. In 2008, they became the Supervising Attorney at the County Manager's Office, where they managed and supervised a team of attorneys and oversaw various aspects of office operations, including budgeting and employee relations.
Most recently, Roberta held the position of Director of the Fulton County Office of Child Attorney, which they started in May 2021. In this role, they oversee the office and leads key initiatives to improve the court system's compliance with Kenny A standards. Roberta represents the office at conferences and summits, both in-state and out-of-state.
Additionally, in November 2017, Roberta served as a Pro Hac Vice Judge at the City of Atlanta Municipal Court.

Roberta Cooper, Esq. completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Goldey-Beacom College, where they also earned their J.D. Roberta then pursued a JD at Widener University School of Law. Later, Roberta specialized in Employment Law by obtaining an LLM from John Marshal Law School in 2012.
