Monica Ferreira, PMP, has extensive experience in project management and planning, currently serving as the PMO Manager at Funbio - Fundo Brasileiro para a Biodiversidade since March 2010. Prior roles include Planning Manager and Consultant at TV Globo from July 1998 to August 2009, Senior Buyer at Lojas Americanas from March 1992 to August 1996, and various consultant positions at Reliance Consultores and Andersen Consulting (Accenture) between 1987 and 1991. Monica began their career as a Systems Analyst at Esso Brasileira de Petróleo in 1987. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Executive Business Administration from Ibmec (1997-1998) and a degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1983-1987), alongside foundational education at Colégio Santo Agostinho (1980-1982).

The Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (Funbio) is an innovative financial mechanism created to drive the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Brazil. Active since 1996, Funbio was created by a multidisciplinary group consisting of representatives from the Federal Government, academia, civil society and the business world on the strength of a USD 20 million donation from the Global Environment Facility (GEF). For the last 24 years it has been a strategic partner of these sectors and has administrated USD 614 million in disbursements to 282 projects across all of Brazil’s biomes.
