Katie Purdum Mohr began their work experience in 1994 as a PR Specialist Intern at Norton Healthcare, where they served as a liaison between hospital administrators and the media, produced articles for hospital publications, and assisted in planning fundraising events. Katie then worked as a Production Editor at Macmillan Publishing/Pearson Technology Group from 1995 to 1998, utilizing project management and communication skills under deadline pressure, mentoring and cross-training employees, and collaborating with acquisitions editors, development editors, and authors.

In 1998, they joined Pearson as an Acquisitions Editor, where they created the Open Source publication list for Que, Sams, and New Riders, exceeded group expectations with 7 bestsellers in 2002 alone, developed improved internal workflow strategies, and participated in the assessment of business products through customer feedback and sales data analysis.

From 2003 to 2015, Katie Purdum Mohr worked at Wiley, first as a Senior Acquisitions Editor, developing a multi-million dollar list of print and electronic publications on various topics, creating new product ideas, and researching emerging technologies. Katie then served as an Executive Editor, signing print titles on emerging technologies and managing a team focused on business, finance, accounting, health, and business skills. During this time, they also created content initiatives and strategies for various online video course platforms. In their final role at Wiley, they became a Content Acquisitions & Publisher, developing strategies to build the Dummies brand through new revenue streams, managing a team of editors, and overseeing the development of print and digital products on emerging topics.

Starting in 2020, Katie Purdum Mohr joined ActualTech Media as a Senior Director of Content. In this position, they led the Content Team in developing and growing a portfolio of marketing assets for large technology organizations. Katie was responsible for launching new print and digital products, regularly interfacing with clients and audience members, and implementing effective content strategies to support the continued fast-paced growth.

Most recently, in 2024, they joined Future as the Head of Content for SmartStudio Future B2B, where they are currently leading the content team and meeting the content needs of an ever-expanding market for high-performing B2B content assets, while also supporting the development of new products.

Katie Purdum Mohr holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and Communications from Hanover College. Additionally, they have obtained multiple certifications related to various topics such as executive communication, relationship building, and social media marketing.
