Bob Cuk

Senior Associate at FXCollaborative

Bob is involved with design at all levels and all scales, from the refinements of interior details to the breadth of urban spaces. He coordinates a project's myriad pieces, keeping them in sync throughout the design and construction process so they fit together seamlessly in the final product—whether the final drawing set, the final design, or the final building that people inhabit.

A summer internship designing pieces of testing equipment for the Department of Defense taught him the value of making sure parts fit together where they're supposed to, and work when used. The final course of his architecture master's degree program at Columbia University gave Bob insight on another crucial underpinning of practice: the hundreds of external factors, from economic realities to community needs, that impact a project and determine how a program is put together.

From the beginning to end of a project, Bob sees those constraints as opportunities for collaboration—with the internal team, and the clients, stakeholders, and consultants. Building technology and sustainability deeply into the process is also integral. To that end, Bob is key to ensuring all project teams remain at the forefront of environmentally responsible design and have the resources to set and track sustainability goals and progress. Each conversation with the clients, and every decision made toward a more efficient building, is a small but essential step forward to a more sustainable future.
