Mercè Graell

Mercè Graell has a diverse and extensive work experience in various design-related roles. Mercè is currently working as the Director of Service Design at g2o since 2022. Prior to this, they co-founded OSSA Teams in 2020, where they served as a Principal and helped organizations become more innovative and resilient. Mercè also worked as PT Faculty MBA at Otterbein University from 2020. In 2022, they were a Design Research Lecturer at The Ohio State University. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Professor and Chair of the Master of Design in Integrative Design at Columbus College of Art & Design, where they developed the content and delivery of the Master's program. Before that, they worked as a Strategic Design Director and Co-Creation Lead at Designit Barcelona from 2010 to 2017, where they introduced co-creation and participatory design methodologies. Mercè also held roles at h2i institute as a Design research associate professor, emphasizing generative design research and co-creation, from 2010 to 2017. Mercè served as the Director of Master in Design Management and as a Visiting Professor at IED Barcelona from 2010 to 2016, teaching strategic design, design process, and co-creation. Lastly, they were a Co-coordinator for the postgraduate Design Management program at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 2011 to 2016.

Mercè Graell completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technical Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 1982 to 1986. Mercè then pursued Graphic Design studies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 1986 to 1989. Later, from 2006 to 2009, they attended The Ohio State University, where they obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Design Research & Education. Additionally, Mercè Graell received several certifications including becoming a Certified Foresight Practitioner from The Futures School in February 2020, a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Facilitator through certified facilitation with the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method in September 2019, and a Certificate in Leadership and Facilitation for Co-Creating the emergent future from Schumacher College in July 2019.
