Richard Perkins

Richard Perkins has over 19 years of work experience, starting in 2002 as an Engineering Project Manager at Cymer, where they successfully launched three generations of the company's flagship lightsource products. Richard then worked as a Grant Writer at BioPower Systems, preparing a successful grant application for AUD $5m. Perkins also served as a Project Leader at Invetech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Danaher, focusing on product innovation and maximizing returns from new product investments.

Following that, Perkins joined Cymer again as a Configuration and Project Management Consultant before working at Skyline Solar as a Contract Test Engineer in CPV Manufacturing and Development. Richard then moved to SunPower Corporation as a Technology Development Engineer, leading development efforts on coatings for PV cover glass and advancing the company's modeling capabilities with new optical simulation tools.

In 2016, Perkins started working at Adecco as a Coatings and Soiling Engineer on-site at Google, and then joined Sunpreme as a Module Development Manager, responsible for all aspects of development of PV modules and successfully launching two new product lines.

Perkins worked as a Renewable Energy Consultant while being self-employed, before joining GAF Energy in 2019. At GAF Energy, they first served as a Sr. Research and Development Engineer and then as a Director of Roof Integration, responsible for integrating solar solutions into roofing systems. In 2022, they were promoted to Sr. Director, Roof Integration.

Richard Perkins has a strong educational background in engineering and sustainable energy. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1994 to 1997. In 2008, they furthered their knowledge in the field by earning a certificate in Solar PV Installation and Design from Solar Staffing Green Training Solutions.

To enhance their expertise in sustainable energy, Richard pursued higher education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Energy from Santa Clara University from 2010 to 2012. During their time at Santa Clara University, they also earned a Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy in 2011.
