Thierry Nguyen

Thierry Nguyen has an extensive work experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly in the solar energy sector. Thierry is currently employed at GAF Energy as a Principal Research and Development Engineer, a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to that, they worked at SunPower Corporation from April 2019 to March 2019 as a Senior Product Development Engineer. During their time at SunPower, they led multiple projects including the development and qualification of semi-flexible and shingle cell modules, as well as low concentration technology.

Before joining SunPower, Thierry worked at EXOSUN as a Product Engineer from September 2012 to April 2014. Thierry also gained experience at Cogenra Solar, where they worked as an Applications and Performance Engineer from October 2009 to September 2012. Thierry'sresponsibilities at Cogenra Solar included project modeling, product marketing, product development, as well as materials selection and module fabrication.

Prior to that, Thierry worked as a Solar Energy Engineer Consultant at Barkam Engineering Services from February 2009 to September 2009, and as a Reliability Engineer at Greenvolts from December 2007 to January 2009. At Greenvolts, they were responsible for materials selection, product design qualification, and failure analysis.

Thierry also has experience outside of the solar energy industry. Thierry worked at KLA-Tencor as an Application Engineer from June 2000 to December 2007, where they conducted pre-sales technical evaluations and managed beta projects. Thierry also worked closely with process engineers to improve fab yield through metrology solutions. Prior to joining KLA-Tencor, Thierry worked at Dunlee as a Materials Engineer from July 1998 to June 2000, where they were responsible for managing the analytical and metallurgical lab and conducting failure analysis using scanning electron microscopy.

Overall, Thierry Nguyen has a diverse and extensive background in research and development, product development, project management, and reliability engineering in the renewable energy industry, particularly in the solar energy sector.

Thierry Nguyen obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech, which they pursued from 1996 to 1998.
