Michael Steele

District Chief at GAINESVILLE FIRE RESCUE

Michael Steele worked for Gainesville Fire Rescue starting in 2007. Michael started as a Lieutenant and later became a District Chief in July 2018. Since 2013, they have also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Florida Gateway College.

Michael Steele earned an Associate of Science degree in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) from Santa Fe College in 2009. Michael later pursued a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science/Fire-fighting from Columbia Southern University, completing their studies between 2017 and 2020.

We have 200 full time budgeted positions and run an approx 20,000 emergency calls per year.
