Yvette Carter is currently the Chief Inclusion Officer at Gainesville Regional Utilities. Prior to this, they worked at East Gainesville Development Corporation from January 2000 to December 2001 as an intern. There, they assisted the Executive Director in community affairs, such as handling issues that arise among residents in the community and organizing community forums. Additionally, they helped with the development of recruitment seminars for WAGES participants and coordinated the Annual Awards Banquet to recognize community leaders. From April 1998 to January 2012, Yvette worked at Nationwide Insurance as a Supervisor for Claims Support. In this role, they fostered and enhanced business partnerships between Claims professionals and Claims Support staff. Yvette was also responsible for providing direct supervision and administrative leadership to associates responsible for moderately complex clerical and administrative functions. In 2008, Yvette became a founding member of the company’s employee resource group – AWARE – which promoted employee engagement, employee development and community outreach for African American women. Yvette held this role until 2012. Additionally, they were a founding member of the Diversity and Inclusion Business Unit Council from 2008 to 2011, which was responsible for research in diversity trends and provided advisement to executive leadership on suggested diverse marketing efforts and employee recruitment/engagement efforts.
Yvette Carter has a Bachelor of Science in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences from the University of Florida.
