Ian Angus has a diverse work history, starting in 2000 as the Managing Director of Swansea Music Events Ltd. Ian then served as the President of Swansea University Students' Union from 2000 to 2002. Afterward, they worked as a Political Researcher & Organiser for Bill Rammell MP from 2002 to 2004. Ian then joined Birmingham Voluntary Service Centre as the Policy & Research Coordinator from 2004 to 2006. Ian moved on to the Government Office for the West Midlands, where they served as the Head of Stronger Communities from 2006 to 2008 and then as the Regional Prevent Manager for the Government Office West Midlands & Office for Security & Counter Terrorism from 2008 to 2011. In 2011, Ian shifted to BVSC, The Centre for Voluntary Action, where they held the role of Business & Enterprise Programmes Manager until 2013. Ian also concurrently served as a Councillor, Bushbury North for the City of Wolverhampton Council from 2011 to 2019. Finally, Ian joined the Gambling Commission, where they have held various positions, including Senior Manager, Consumers & Partners from 2013 to 2018, Programme Director, Consumer Protection & Empowerment from 2018 to 2020, and currently, as the Director of Policy since 2020.

Ian Angus obtained a BScEcon in Political Theory & Government from Swansea University between 1997 and 2000. Ian pursued an MA in International Studies from the University of Birmingham from 2005 to 2007. In 2010, they completed a Certificate in Terrorism Studies at the University of St Andrews.
