Marty Starnes

Marty Starnes has extensive experience in the field of education, currently serving as a Hearing Officer and Executive Director for Middle Grades Education at Gaston County Schools since June 2017. Additionally, Marty operates a consulting business providing educational organizations with coaching, remediation services, principal mentorship, and support for Common Core implementation since February 2013. Previous roles include Principal of East Gaston High School from July 2006 to July 2011, where leadership was provided for over 1,600 students and 122 employees, and Executive Director of Middle Grades Education at Gaston County Schools from July 2004 to June 2006, overseeing curriculum and instruction with a multi-million dollar budget. Marty's educational background includes a Master's degree in Education/Counseling/School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
