Ebony McKiver

Ebony McKiver has an extensive work experience in the field of social studies education. Ebony currently holds the position of Senior Engagement Manager at Gates Ventures since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief Executive Officer at ECM Consulting, where they provided leadership and expertise in social studies content to schools, districts, and organizations. Before that, they served as a Social Studies Education Specialist at the Nebraska Department of Education, where they offered statewide leadership, technical assistance, and professional learning in social studies education. Earlier in their career, Ebony worked as a Social Studies Teacher at Omaha Public Schools and Baltimore City Public Schools, where they demonstrated their knowledge of instructional practices and integrated technology and communication into the curriculum. Ebony also held various roles at Baltimore City Public Schools, including Chair of the School and Family Council and Content Lead for the Social Studies Department. Ebony's work experience also includes teaching positions at Euclid High School and their role as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Cleveland State University, where they worked closely with urban high school students and conducted oral history projects. Additionally, they worked as a Supplemental Instructor at the Office of Diversity and Minority Affairs, where they taught a course to support retention of minority and first-year college students in history courses.

Ebony McKiver's education history is as follows:

Ebony obtained their Principal Licensure degree in Education from Cleveland State University in 2015-2016. Prior to that, they completed their Masters of Education degree in Urban Secondary Teaching from the same university in 2009-2010.

Ebony McKiver also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, which they received in 2006-2010, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies, completed in 2006-2009. Both of these degrees were obtained from Cleveland State University.

As for their high school education, Ebony McKiver received their High School Diploma from Catonsville High School in 1990-2008, where they completed a College Preparatory field of study.

In addition to their degrees, Ebony McKiver has obtained several certifications. Ebony holds an Advanced Professional Certification from the Maryland State Department of Education, which they obtained in January 2017. Ebony also has an Ohio Principal Certificate from the Ohio Department of Education, obtained in June 2016.
