Middle School Humanities and Learning Seminar Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach two blocks of Humanities, an integrated ELA and social studies course

  • Teach two blocks of Learning Seminar, a unique class focused on learning strategies and literacy skills

  • Collaborate with teaching team to plan curriculum, lessons and assessments

  • Lead a daily Advisory of 17-20 students, supporting their social-emotional growth and academic learning.

  • Collaborate with subject area and grade level teams to analyze student learning, differentiate instruction and build a positive school culture

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Gateway's mission is essential, including a desire to work with a diverse student body

  • You have high expectations for your own work, as well as that of students

  • Strong desire to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and students

  • Desire to be part of building common instructional practices and the larger school culture and community

  • Current California credential required -- Multiple Subjects or Single Subject (ELA and/or Social Studies)

  • Bilingual and BIPOC candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

  • You are dedicated to being anti-racist and pro-Black
