Alexander Schmitt has worked in a variety of roles since 2010. Alexander began their career as a Mechanical Engineer and Student Worker at Porsche Engineering Services GmbH in 2010. In 2013, they became a Research Associate at Universität Siegen. From 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Research Associate at Hamburg University of Technology. In 2018, they were a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley College of Engineering. Most recently, Alexander has been working as an Algorithm Engineer ADAS at ZF Group since 2019, where they are responsible for developing vision-based control algorithms for driver assistance systems of passenger vehicles, as well as model-based software development for prototypes and series production vehicles. Alexander is currently working as a Controls Engineer at Gatik AI since 2023.

Alexander Schmitt completed a Diploma in Maschinenbau from the University of Stuttgart between 2005 and 2012. Alexander then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Bauingenieurwesen, Verkehrssicherheit from The George Washington University - School of Engineering & Applied Science between 2008 and 2009. Finally, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Hamburg University of Technology between 2014 and 2019.
