Gary Wong has also worked in the travel industry as a non-trade member of the Mainland China Inbound Tour Affairs Committee. In the government sector, they have served as a member of various committees, including the Lump Sum Grant Independent Complaints Handling Committee and the Commission on Children. Gary Wong has also been a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission, where they focused on promoting equality and eliminating discrimination. Subsequently, from 2007 to 2010, Gary pursued their Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of London.

Continuing their educational pursuits, Gary Wong Chi-him enrolled in the University of Oxford in 2012. Here, they dedicated their studies to Diplomatic Studies and completed a Master of Studies (MSt) degree in 2013. Displaying a commitment to academic advancement, Gary is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sociology at Tsinghua University since 2021.
