Director, Tax Controversy at GBX Group

Katherine Jordan is the Director of Tax Controversy at GBX Group. Prior to their current position, Ms. Jordan served as a law clerk for the U.S. Tax Court from November 2013 to March 2016, where they were responsible for drafting opinions, orders, and decisions; conducting legal research; and advising the judge on scheduled opinions and side opinions. Ms. Jordan also has experience in estate planning, having served as a legal intern for Virginia Wills Trusts & Estates from September 2011 to April 2012, where they drafted wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents. In addition, Ms. Jordan has experience in tax law, having structured the sale of a life insurance policy to an irrevocable life insurance trust (ILIT) to minimize income and estate taxes.

Katherine Jordan earned their Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law with a focus in Tax Law, taking seven classes in the field. Prior to that, they received their Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University's Trinity College of Arts and Sciences. Katherine is also a certified graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Katherine is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, as well as the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
