Chris Nierman has a diverse work experience in both the private and public sectors. Chris started their career as a Law Clerk for Hon. Dianna Gribbon Motz at the US Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit from August 2000 to August 2001. Chris then joined Shea & Gardner, which later became Goodwin Procter, as an Associate from September 2001 to October 2005. Nierman then moved to Wiltshire & Grannis LLP and worked as an Associate from November 2005 to December 2009. Since January 2010, they have been associated with GCI General Communication, Inc. In the company, they have held various positions including Director of Federal Regulatory Affairs (January 2010 to July 2012), Senior Counsel of Federal Affairs (July 2012 to January 2020), and currently, as the Vice President and Senior Counsel of Federal Affairs.

Chris Nierman obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Secondary Education from Mary Washington College between 1992 and 1995. Following this, they pursued higher education at the University of Virginia School of Law, graduating with a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in 2000. The field of study for their J.D. degree is not specified.
