Erik Huizer

Erik Huizer serves as the CEO of GÉANT since July 2017, transitioning from an interim position to a permanent role. Concurrently, Erik holds positions as a Member of the Supervisory Board at NTR and as a Research Associate and Professor at Utrecht University, roles sustained since May 2005. Formerly, Erik was the Chairman of the Board at Enset until March 2019 and served as CTO at SURFnet from June 2012 to April 2018. Erik was also involved in numerous initiatives including membership on the Scientific Committee for the Next Generation Internet, the Board of GÉANT Association and GÉANT Limited, and as an Advisory Board Member for the SIDN fund. Erik contributed to the ECP Platform for the InformatieSamenleving and served as Captain of Science for the Topteam Creatieve Industrie. Erik earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Solid State Physics from Delft University of Technology between 1976 and 1987.
