Engineering Team Lead at Geckoboard

Matt Button has extensive work experience in software engineering and infrastructure roles. Matt began their career at Memberful as a Software Developer, where they built a subscription billing platform and implemented a comprehensive test suite. Matt also developed a continuous integration system that reduced preparation time for deployments.

Later, Matt joined Geckoboard, starting as a Software Engineer. Here, they introduced automated testing for config management tooling and spearheaded the extraction of components from a monolithic application into microservices. Matt also led the development of a new system for the encryption of sensitive customer data.

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Geckoboard, Matt started a new team dedicated to improving the efficiency and robustness of the server infrastructure. Matt developed a REST API that centralized deployment tooling, eliminating the need for engineers to have ssh access to production. Matt also created a chat bot for deploying changes through Slack and implemented a program for formalizing the response to production incidents.

Finally, Matt took on the role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer and eventually became an Engineering Team Lead at Geckoboard. In these positions, they continued to advance the infrastructure and led the team in making it easier for engineers to ship changes faster with greater confidence.
