Melanee Ferrier

Melanee Ferrier is the current Membership Director at GeekWire. Melanee has held this position since January of 2018. Prior to that, they were the Campus Operations Director at Galvanize Inc in Seattle from January 2018 to December 2019. During their time there, they increased event sales by 83% through fostering strategic relationships and diversifying the event portfolio. Melanee also directed the execution of 25-45 small to large scale internal and external events weekly for clients such as Facebook, Nordstrom, Zillow, and Starbucks. In addition, they supervised 6-8 part-time Event Coordinators and increased book of business for events by 23%. Furthermore, they developed and implemented strategies and processes to create departmental and campus efficiency, better messaging around product value, and provide first-class customer service.

Before their time at Galvanize Inc, Ferrier was the Director of Engagement at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce from December 2015 to October 2017. During their time there, they increased recurring event clients by 75%. Melanee also served as the Membership and Marketing Director at the South Sound YMCA from September 2014 to November 2015. In this role, they were responsible for managing all aspects of membership retention and acquisition as well as developing marketing plans to increase brand awareness. Lastly, they served as the Sr. Program Director-Teens, Membership, Business Office and Child Watch at the YMCA of Greater Williamson County from February 2014 to May 2014.

Melanee Ferrier has a Bachelor of Science from Northern Michigan University in Media and a Master of Arts from Southern New Hampshire University in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Melanee also has a certification from the YMCA of the USA in YMCA Leadership Competency Multi-Team or Branch Leader.
