Adriana Akers

Associate, Urban Planner at Gehl Architects

Adriana combines expertise in planning and design, social science research, and sustainability to devise interdisciplinary, context-sensitive interventions that strengthen urban quality of life. She has lived in New York, Boston, Beijing, and Mexico City and is passionate about improving the public realm in cities around the world. Her work at Gehl is informed by her past experiences in urban policy, where she focused on diverse topics including sustainable development in Chinese cities, design strategies for informal settlements, disaster recovery planning after Hurricane Sandy, and citywide sustainability planning in New York. Adriana holds a Masters in City Planning and a Certificate in Urban Design from MIT.
