Christiaan Smit

Christiaan Smit is an experienced professional in environmental law and project management, currently serving as Project Leader for the Environmental Plan and Senior Legal Advisor in Environmental Law at Gemeente Nieuwegein since April 2020. Christiaan has been involved in implementing the Environmental Act and advising various departments on spatial administrative law. Additionally, Christiaan has been a skating trainer and coach for Schaatsvereniging Utrecht SVU since April 2013. Previous experience includes roles as a Junior Legal Advisor in Environmental Law at A2 Legal Interim, a Junior Jurist in the implementation project for the Environmental Act at Gemeente Nieuwegein, and a student assistant at Utrecht University. Christiaan holds a Master's degree in Staats- en Bestuursrecht with a specialization in Environmental Law and a Bachelor's degree in Notarial Law, alongside completing an advanced training program in skating coaching.
