Kayla Fischer has worked in various roles since 2014. Kayla began their career as a Resident Advisor at the University of Houston in 2014, and then became a Senior Resident Advisor in 2015. In 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Genetics Lab. In 2017, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Frankino Lab and at Gene by Gene as a Microarray Supervisor/Team Lead, Data Analyst, and Laboratory Technician. In 2021, they became the Program Manager at The Women's Resource and in 2022 they became the Technical Sales Manager at Gene by Gene. During their role as Microarray Supervisor/Team Lead, they supervised a team of 7 people, scheduled tasks in the lab, held and led weekly team meetings, conducted evaluations and competency checks, trained new hires, and diagnosed problems and inefficiencies with robots.
Kayla Fischer obtained their degree in Mathematical Biology from the University of Houston in 2017. In 2019, they obtained a Technologist in Molecular Biology certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
