Megan Roegner has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific field since 2011. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Scientist and Molecular Biologist for GeneCapture, Inc. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral IRTA at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and a Writer for NIH Catalyst in 2018. From 2015-2018, Roegner was a Graduate Research Fellow at the National Science Foundation. From 2012-2015, they were a PhD Student and Teaching Assistant at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they also worked as a Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Thacker, performing marine sponge phylogenetic research. In 2011, Roegner was an R&D Intern at Thermofisher Scientific, using snRNA's to knock down gene expression in embryonic cells.
Megan Roegner began their educational journey in 2008 when they earned their Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2010, they attended the Universit\u00e9 Paris-Sorbonne, though they did not receive a degree. Megan then returned to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biology-Crustacean Endocrinology in 2018.
