Avantika Lal

Avantika Lal is a Principal ML Scientist II and Principal AI Scientist at Genentech, with a focus on designing, training, and evaluating Generative AI for DNA and RNA and leveraging deep learning to interpret human genetic data for novel drug target discovery. Prior to Genentech, Avantika served as a Senior Data Scientist at insitro, where novel target genes for complex diseases were identified using deep learning on genomic and epigenomic data. Experience also includes roles at NVIDIA, where significant advancements in single-cell genomic analysis tools were achieved, and at Stanford University, where Avantika contributed to cutting-edge computational cancer genomics research. An academic background includes a PhD and MSc from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and a B.Sc. with Honors in Biochemistry from Delhi University.
