Mike Apicella

Mike Apicella is a senior mechanical engineer with over a decade of experience specializing in the design, analysis, and testing of spaceborne optical systems. Currently serving as a Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer at General Atomics since September 2023, Mike has held similar positions at EO Vista, Elbit Systems of America, and L3Harris Technologies. Extensive expertise includes finite element modeling, opto-mechanical analysis, and random vibration testing. Mike has a strong background in performing structural, thermal, and optical analyses through finite element analysis, MATLAB simulations, and testing of precision mechanisms. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
