Ferid Gharsalli

Ferid Gharsalli serves as the Executive Director at General Motors, focusing on Software Defined Vehicles since April 2020. Currently leading an automotive engineering organization of over 750 engineers in China, Gharsalli oversees various domains including Electrical Architecture, Intelligent Driving, and Infotainment. Prior to this role, Gharsalli was the Engineering Group Leader at General Motors, directing an Autonomous Development organization from September 2017 to February 2020. Experience includes significant contributions at Caterpillar Inc. in positions such as Engineering Supervisor and New Product Introduction Team Lead, where Gharsalli played a key role in the development of innovative technologies like the CAT Detect safety system and remote control systems for heavy machinery. Gharsalli holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Grenoble Institute of Technology and has also taught as an Assistant/Associate Professor at the same institution.
