Erik van Vlack

Erik Van Vlack is a scientist specializing in protein production and characterization at Generate Biomedicines since October 2022. Previously, Erik served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University, researching protein interactions that drive biofilm formation in Staphylococcus aureus, where key projects included the development of enzyme assays and the characterization of protein-protein interactions. Erik contributed to research at Stony Brook University as a postgraduate researcher and graduate research assistant, focusing on chemical biology tools and the interactions of membrane proteins in mycobacteria. Teaching assistant roles in general and organic chemistry at Stony Brook University and SUNY New Paltz highlighted Erik's commitment to education. Erik holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stony Brook University, and a B.A. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from SUNY New Paltz. Additionally, Erik has experience in ecological education as an Ecology/Conservation Director with the Boy Scouts of America.
