Kimberly Schmitt is a Senior Scientist II at Generate:Biomedicines, focusing on preclinical discovery and development since September 2022, after serving as Senior Scientist I in Molecular Virology. Kimberly has extensive experience in virology and immunology, having worked as a Research Scholar/Scientist-I and Postdoctoral Fellow at Colorado State University from October 2016 to August 2022, where Kimberly managed novel techniques for HIV latency detection and established new animal models for infectious diseases. Prior to that, Kimberly was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Scripps Research Institute, where innovative techniques showcasing HIV-1's evasion of the immune system were developed. Kimberly's early career included positions at the University of Kansas Medical Center, providing a strong foundation in research project leadership and laboratory management. Kimberly holds a Doctorate in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Iowa.
