Ryan Nelson

Ryan Nelson is a skilled software engineer with extensive experience in scientific computing, orchestration, and machine learning operations at Generate:Biomedicines since May 2022, where roles have progressed from Bioinformatics Engineer I to Software Engineer III. Prior to this, Ryan contributed as a Graduate Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University's Hiller Lab, where innovative protocols for isolating prokaryotic extracellular vesicles were developed. Experience also includes a data science internship at Zymergen, improving fermentation yield predictions through advanced modeling and data visualization. Previous roles at Target involved leadership in data engineering, modernizing tech stacks and building robust data pipelines, while earlier positions included work in architecture and urban design. Ryan holds a Master's degree in Computational Biology from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from North Dakota State University, complemented by an architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame.
