Matthew Smith

Matthew Smith serves as the Elected Board Secretary of ELGA Credit Union and is an active member of the ELGA Board of Directors, having won an election in May 2021. In addition, Matthew holds the position of Chairman for the Genesee County Republican Party and is an Elected Official on the Davison School Board, representing over 40,000 citizens. Matthew also fulfills the role of Director of Sales and Marketing at Smith and Smith Carpet, a family-owned business, and serves as Board President of the Genesee County Neighborhood Watch. Previous roles include Deputy Clerk of Davison Township and Journalist/TV Reporter for WNEM TV5. Matthew received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration/Political Science from the University of Michigan and an Associate’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from Mott Community College. Recognition includes the “Best High School Journalist Student in the State of Michigan” award from Michigan State University.
