Der-you Kao has a diverse work experience in various research and engineering roles. In 2006, they worked as a Research Assistant at Academia Sinica until 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they served as a Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma. In 2011, they completed their Ph.D. in MAE at George Washington University. Subsequently, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Physics, Central Michigan University from 2016 to 2017. Then, they joined NASA/GSFC as a Postdoctoral Associate from 2017 to 2018. Following this, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from 2018 to 2020. Currently, Der-you Kao is an Electrical Engineer at Genesis Engineering Solutions, Inc. starting from March 2022.
