Kimmo Tiilikainen is a prominent Finnish political figure and academic, currently serving as Professor and Director General at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) since June 2021. Tiilikainen previously held the position of State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment from June 2019 to April 2021, where leadership during Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union included negotiations on the EU 2020 budget. As Minister of Environment, Energy and Housing from May 2017 to June 2019, Tiilikainen facilitated international climate discussions, notably at UNFCCC COP24. A member of the Finnish Parliament from March 2003 to April 2019 representing the Center Party, Tiilikainen also served as Minister of Agriculture and Environment, where roles included negotiation for the Paris Agreement. Educational background includes a Master's degree in agriculture and forestry from the University of Eastern Finland.
