Richard Travers

Deputy Head, Senior School at George Watson's College

Richard Travers has been working as a mathematics teacher for over 25 years. Richard started their career at Chenderit School in 1993 and moved to George Watson's College in 1996. Richard has been working at George Watson's College ever since. In their current role as Deputy Head of the Senior School, they are responsible for the teaching and learning of all subjects across the senior school. Richard has also been involved in delivering training on how to best use Texas Instruments' graphical calculators for teaching Mathematics. Richard has delivered over 40 workshops and training events in the UK and Europe, and has also delivered sessions at Texas Instruments' International Maths Teacher Conferences in the USA.

Richard Travers completed a Master of Arts in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Mathematics at the University of Oxford. Richard then studied M347 Mathematical Statistics, M343 Applications of Probability, and M346 Linear Modelling at The Open University.

They work with Lesley Dorward - Deputy Head, Senior School, Leigh Harran - Assistant Head, Senior School, and Fiona Taylor - Assistant Head, Senior School. Richard Travers reports to Gordon Boyd, Head of Senior School.
