Kermit Gilliard, Jr. has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as Senior Program Manager at the Georgia Department of Education since November 2021. Previously, Kermit worked in Grady County Schools for nearly three decades, holding various leadership positions including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Leadership, and several principal roles across different educational levels. Kermit's career began as a Special Education Teacher in Grady County Schools and Gwinnett County Public Schools. Kermit holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University, a Master’s Degree in Severe and Profound Disabilities from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University.
