Parinaz Sobhani

Head of Applied Research at Georgian

Parinaz Sobhani is the Head of Applied Research at Georgian. Prior to this, they were a Visiting Research Scholar at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen from November 2016 to January 2017. Her research there focused on Deep Multi-task Learning. From May 2016 to August 2016, they were a Research Intern at Microsoft Research where they developed an end-to-end neural machine translation system by exploiting syntactic structure. From January 2015 to December 2015, they were an Machine (Deep) Learning Intern at National Research Council Canada where they developed Deep neural networks models for text processing. While there, they also won the SEM Best Paper Award for their work in designing neural network models for integrating compositional and non-compositional sentiment for text classification. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Research Assistant, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning at the University of Ottawa from November 2012 to May 2017.

Parinaz Sobhani has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing from the University of Ottawa. Parinaz also has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Sharif University of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Isfahan.

Parinaz Sobhani reports to Justin Lafayette, Lead Investor, Head of Firm. They are on a team with Tara Rosenblatt - Chief Legal Officer, Debbie Landers - Head of Operational Success, and Ben Wilde - Head of Marketing and Growth.
